Morada Aberta: Onde o Gesto Cura plays out in different languages and spaces, combining digital and analogue video projections with expanded cinema techniques and real-time image composition. The work is arranged into three interrelated moments that straddle different eras, atmospheres, and ways of being present.

It is based on personal and collective histories and memories, and on sensitive observation of everyday life, adopting an imagistic and poetic perspective towards territories, bodies and gestures. The research stems from the artist’s memories and the stories from the place where she grew up, spreading to the territories of northern Portugal, Alto and Baixo Minho, Galicia and the Atlantic coast.

The film accompanies the day-to-day lives of working women, the guardians of ancestral knowledge connected to the land, the sea, natural cycles and forms of care passed down through generations, looking closely at barely visible gestures that sustain communities and keep unofficial forms of knowledge alive.

Halfway between a documentary and fiction, this performance questions illness and healing in the popular imagination, understanding healing to be not only a rite or a word, but also a gesture, work, class, cultivation and an intimate relationship with nature and with the other. It observes practices and movements that span generations, conserving the energy of the sacred, of resistance, of absence, and of mystery, while proposing a common space to listen and remember.
