Why can’t sounds be visible?

Wouldn’t the ear feedback to the eye cause a fatal oscillation?

Pauline Oliveros

Helena Girón and Samuel Delgado, the protagonists of our section Sinais, bring to us a performance that is strongly linked –almost sewed with telluric threads– to their filmic creations, in which the Canary Islands play a major role. Girón and Delgado’s Ejercicios de escucha offer an immersive atmosphere that, in the words of the authors, “evokes, by the means of sounds and images, a psycho-geophysical itinerary across the island of Tenerife; we use light sensors, the projectors’ electromagnetic field, and magnetic sound recordings to perform a ritual with the power to lead us into the depths of a dream… or a nightmare.”
