(S8) will attend the new edition of Experiments in Cinema that will be held April 23-27 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, with the program, Soul Map of the Spanish Cinema of the Senses, curated by Ángel Rueda.
This program invites us to an expedition through the work of a new generation of filmmakers in Spain who explore the sensory relationship between their souls and the soul of their films. The intentional use of the photochemical medium traces a path where emotions, sensations and moods configure a journey. A map that begins on the screen and leads us to the inner soul of those who created the films like, Jaione Camborda, Elena Duque, Yonay Boix, Valentina Alvarado, Deneb Martos and Pablo Useros, María Serna and Ángel Montero, Biviana Chauchi and Alvaro Feldman. All these films were featured in the (S8) Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico. A Coruña (Spain)
After the screening in Albuquerque the program will be able online in the festival website https://www.experimentsincinema.org/
This way (S8) activities kick off this year 2024, before celebrating our fifteenth edition in A Coruña from May 31 to June 9.
Experiments in Cinema. A Celebration of International Cinematic Experimentation. From 1991, brings the international community of cinematic un-dependents to Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA for a film festival that is designed to inspire a new generation of homegrown media activists to participate in shaping future trends of cultural representation.
In many ways Experiments in Cinema likes to think of itself as a micro-community rather than a festival, in that we are proudly and defiantly non-competitive—no pretentious red carpets, arbitrary prizes or VIP passes. Everyone who participates wins!. Experiments in Cinema is about sharing and nurturing, as we truly believe that the community of media un-dependents are modern day traveling troubadours, sharing their news of the day (from personal, un-embedded perspectives) with colleagues and friends from around the world.
Each year, in addition to presenting a wide range of international screenings, Experiments in Cinema also hosts live multi-media performances, interactive projects, lectures, discussion groups, hands-on workshops and a program of films produced by New Mexican Middle and High School students.
Our annual celebration of all things un-dependently cinematic is produced by Basement Films. One of the few remaining first wave micro-cinemas left in the United States and is supported by the Instituto Cervantes de Albuquerque, among others.
