MADI PILLER WORKSHOPMadi Piller, Peruvian filmmaker based in Canada, has spent two decades “with her hands on the table”, working directly and intimately with film material and tapping into all of its qualities through the use of different media. Working directly on the filmstrip, she has given shape to a multitude of works (from films to performances): a practice that she will share through this workshop in which participants are invited to generate a collective film performance piece. In this workshop, we will turn to used film materials (in 35mm and 16mm), found or expired, which will be manipulated with chemical and organic materials, painting, cutting and tearing; anything goes when it comes to making film without a camera. The workshop will also include a special section dedicated to sound, in which we will take advantage of optical sound of 16mm projectors: all image contains a sound which will also be manipulated in various ways. With the resulting 16mm works and the digitalisations of manipulated 35mm, we will build a collective performance that will be presented publicly on Sunday, 2 May at 7pm in Sala (S8) PALEXCO.
The workshop is open to anyone who is interested in artistic and film creation and/or who wishes to incorporate found film work into his or her practice. It is not necessary to have previous experience in the field.
XIZ Montealto – 31 May and 1 June from 11am -2pm and from 4pm- 8pm.
Projection of works resulting from the workshop: Sunday 2 May at 7pm in Sala (S8) PALEXCO.
