Australian experimental filmmakers Dianna Barrie and Richard Tuohy are two international champions of photochemical cinema. They have literally travelled the world showing their films, and also sharing their knowledge about the practices of analogue cinema, its apparatus and laboratory procedures, in addition to all of the creative possibilities that can be explored thanks to this craft work. Such know-how has no frontiers and adapts to the resources of every place they visit, bearing the DIY spirit as their banner.
In this intensive workshop they are bringing to A Coruña, Barrie and Tuohy will be teaching us everything we need to make 16 mm films on our own. On the first day, working in groups, we will learn the basics for using a Bolex camera and for black and white negative filming. On the second day, we will learn how to set up a simple home laboratory to develop the negatives ourselves. Using a projector as a contact printer, we are going to make positives from camera negatives. Finally, on the last day these raw materials will be turned into mounted masterpieces.
