MORGAN FISHER MASTER CLASS

FILMS AS RESPONSES

Filmoteca de Galicia | Saturday June 8th | 11:00 am

Morgan Fisher’s artistic work has diversified since the late 1960s through film, video installations and painting. As for cinema, his films conceptually examine the production processes in filmmaking. In this master class, Fisher will be looking at the process behind the creation of his latest film, Another Movie (2018), a film intended as a kind of response to the canonical film for experimental cinema, A Movie (1958) by Bruce Conner. Fisher’s film again takes up Conner’s music, Respighi’s Pines of Rome. Indeed, Another Movie plays with the clash between Respighi’s ideas about his own composition, which Fisher shows us, and with the memory of audiences familiar with Conner’s work. It is a kind of experiment through which Fisher will be looking into his interests and lines of work in recent years.
