Agnès Hayden, currently a resident with the 7th International Artistic Residency of Cinematographic Creation – BAICC, is already working on her Latitude Mesh project within the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT) thanks to the collaboration between (S8), LIFT and Acción Cultural Española (AC/E). This is co-financed by NextGenerationEU as part of the Plan for Recovery, Transformation and Resilience via the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), which is funding our project eSe8_LAB.
Latitude Mesh focuses on cinematographic emulsions, their characteristics and possibilities, using homemade or DIY emulsions as a key feature. Hayden will look into what kind of sensitivity she can achieve by using various chemicals and playing with light. The images themselves will be used to build up a topographic map, assigning emulsions to different areas of Toronto by latitude, tracing out a diary-based, affectionate geography of the city.
The result of this residency will be premiered at the next (S8) 15TH Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico to be held from 1st to 9th June in 2024 in A Coruña (Spain)
